FAE engineer is the English abbreviation of field application engineer, also called on-site technical support engineer, pre-sales and after-sales service engineer.
Pre-sales mainly include: technical guidance and technical training for customers; providing technical support to the company's sales staff; leading the design of solutions for customers. After-sales mainly refers to: after-sales technical services and market guidance for customers; feedback of market information to R&D personnel.
Given that most people may not know FAE engineers well, the author deliberately interviewed Deng Linhui, director of the FAE department of Ruilongyuan Electronics.
When asked about FAE's work content and development status, Director Deng's answer was very real.
"FAE is not a product researcher, nor a salesperson. It not only has a certain source of customers, but also has senior product knowledge and product practical application technology. The characteristics between the two will make FAE engineers need to learn a lot of knowledge, including Sales and technical aspects; but it is also possible that FAE is in an awkward position due to the fact that both are learned and neither is specialized. Some companies may even ignore FAE because it can’t bring benefits.”
Therefore, the ultimate development direction of many FAE engineers is technical sales.
In this context, the author asked about the situation of the FAE department of Ruilongyuan Electronics. Director Deng was as low-key and sincere as ever:
"The quality of pre-sales and after-sales service determines the quality of user experience to a large extent. As a company with a sense of social responsibility and regards user reputation as a lifeline, we fundamentally value the FAE department and FAE engineers. The boss and other senior executives of the company are highly consistent with my understanding in this respect. Not only are they paying attention to it in words, but they have recently invested nearly 10 million in the construction of a leading EMC laboratory in China, and discuss the impact of different types of lightning. There are seven generators."
At present, under the leadership of Director Deng Linhui, the FAE department has a total of engineers such as Chen Xusheng and Xiong Jumeng. Among them, Director Deng has more than ten years of relevant work experience. Chen Gong has been engaged in related fields since graduating from university. He also has nearly ten years of experience in related fields. Experience, Mr. Xiong also has a lot of work experience and in-depth research in the field of circuit protection. The FAE department is full of talents.
In the interview, Mr. Deng was very low-key and humble. The author asked repeatedly that he was reluctant to introduce himself too much, and even told the author that he should write as little as possible about him in the manuscript, just write about the company's FAE department.
After understanding Deng Gong’s style, the author can only make a short story as long as possible. Finally, I asked about the testing process of Ruilongyuan and other related information, so that customers can understand the process and better come to Ruilongyuan for testing.
"All prospective customers or customers who have dealt with transactions first put forward their requirements through the salesperson, the business applies to the laboratory for confirmation time, the customer comes to the site to test, and Ruilongyuan provides the test report. This is the test process. All tests are in accordance with the relevant standard IEC61000-4-5, According to IEC61000-4-2, UL1449, ITU-k.21, etc., we can meet the customer’s test conditions and meet or exceed customer expectations."
Mr. Deng gave a concise and powerful answer, and he is full of confidence in the strength and future of the FAE department of Ruilongyuan Electronics.
