Sui Qian, Director of Smartphone Strategy Research at Strategy Analytics, said, "Global smartphone shipments have increased from 354.2 million units in Q3 2015 to 375.4 million units in Q3 2016, an increase of 6%. This is the fastest in the smartphone industry in a year. Driven by the relatively low penetration rate of smartphones in emerging markets such as Asia, Africa, the Middle East, especially India and South Africa, the smartphone market has begun to moderately re-growth."

Neil Mawston, Executive Director of Wireless Terminal Research Services at Strategy Analytics, added: "In Q3 2016, Android's dominance in global smartphone shipments remained strong, and 88% of smartphones are now using Google's operating system. The success of Android Weakened every other major competitive platform. In Q3 2016, due to the bleak performance in China and Africa, Apple's iOS lost to Android, and its global market share dropped to 12%. BlackBerry and Microsoft Windows phones have disappeared from the market due to strategic shifts Traces; and Tizen and other emerging platforms are also weak due to their limited product portfolio and weak developer support."

Woody Oh, Director of Strategy Analytics, added, “Android’s leading position in the global smartphone market seems unbreakable at the moment. Its low-cost services and user-friendly software are still maintained for hardware manufacturers, operators and global consumers. Attractive. However, Google also faces some challenges. Hundreds of manufacturers have made the Android platform overcrowded, while few profitable Android device manufacturers; at the same time, Google’s newly launched Pixel series is attacking the original Android change. Its own hardware partners are popular."
